In an October news release that was published by the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, Dr. Nader Perroud, the leader of the study, announced their findings, which linked prescribed antidepressant usages with increased suicidal thoughts and behavior in men. “Our findings that treatment-emerging and worsening suicidal thoughts may also be associated with psychomotor activation triggered by antidepressants need to be investigated in future studies,” Dr. Nader stated. The study showed that men who are taking the popular prescribed antidepressant, Aventyl (nortriptyline), are almost ten times more likely to experience suicidal thoughts than men who are taking escitalopram (Lexapro, Cipralex).
